How we make them
I have cut a shoe in half so you see what has gone into the making of your Winkle Picker.
Please refer to the information below in conjunction with the diagram and you will soon realise you have something very special.
Lasts:-are taken from original 60's lasts, but modified for comfort. This is to ensure that our customers do not end up with bent toes ... the problem caused by the original lasts. However for all perfectionists, you will not be able to tell the difference!
Uppers:-are made from Italian tanned Vitello leather or Suede leather which is both strong and supple. All footwear is double stitched for strength and lock stitched where seams end.
Lace up versions have reinforced nylon backing under the lace holes, to ensure no tearing occurs
Laces are non fray wax coated
All buckles are metal and will not break
All elastic used is double strength honeycomb type.
Styles with front seams are folded, glued and stretched to avoid splitting
Linings:-are fully lined in sheep leather. This ensures the maximum comfort whilst being absorbent and strong. (No canvas is used as lining or substitute materials, as in most commercial footwear)
Heel Stiffeners:-are best quality ... to ensure heels do not collapse
Toe Puffs:- are best quality ... to ensure toes do not collapse
Insoles:- are leather (not cardboard, synthetic, or leather board) real leather! This ensures any sweat will pass through and not remain on the feet. They will not break up or collapse like other materials.
Insocks:-are made from sheep leather, the same as the lining. What is special is I have injected an anti bacterial foot bed to this. What you have is unparalleled comfort for this type of footwear.
Soles:-are pure leather with an injected hard rubber tip to ensure the toes do not wear out prematurely. (Please note the sole tip is injected, not stuck and will not separate from the leather). All design work on the sole is laser cut.
Heels:-are high quality Masonite with a hard wearing rubber heel cap that will outlast most other types of heel. All design work on the heel is laser cut
